Thanksgiving started as a day of giving thanks for the harvest of the preceding year (I read that on Wikipedia). Why just give thanks one day out of the year? Let's have an attitude of gratitude everyday!
At the end of every class I teach, I give the students an opportunity to pause and give thanks for all the good things in life, for all the people and animals they love.
It was wonderful to see so many students start their Thanksgiving Day with a gratitude inspired flow at Syracuse Yoga. It was the largest class we have had at the studio to date, and I am so grateful to be part of such an amazing Yoga community!
You know what else I thought was wonderful? Many other studios had well attended classes on Thanksgiving morning too! I saw on Instagram that Mallory Wisniewski's class at Elevate Fitness was crowded, as well as Tiffany Cagwin's class at O Yoga Syracuse and Saraswati Om's class at Dharma Yoga. Nothing makes my heart happier than more people doing Yoga. It's not just about fitness, it's about community and connection, self love and self care.
Whether you practice at Syracuse Yoga or somewhere else, I'm just glad you found some time for yourself on the mat.
I'm also grateful for the generosity of so many people two weeks ago at the "Downward Dog for Downs Syndrome" fundraiser at Syracuse Yoga. Each month Syracuse Yoga schedules a fundraiser to support a local organization. There was a great turnout, thank you to all who attended!
Another opportunity to give back to our community is coming up on December 9 at 1:00. Yoga for Wishes supports Make a Wish CNY. Won't you join us? Sign up here: http://bit.ly/2hRBGj8
An attitude of gratitude. It's not just reserved for Thanksgiving.
I hope to see you on the mat soon!
